The cap strapped Oakland Raiders have been quiet for much of the free agency period. Not having the luxury of money to toss at big ticket names has left them sitting on the sidelines and watching teams like the Eagles go on spending sprees. But as we all know the strategy employed by the Eagles works sometimes and doesn’t other (Redskins).
This morning the Raiders announced the re-signing of Michael Huff. A move that many thought the Raiders wouldn’t make but Huff received little interest from other teams and when the dust settled he stayed with the team that drafted him in 2006. Huff was the 7th overall pick in 2006 and hasn’t lived up to that billing yet but provides a quality starter that can make an impact from the FS position.
Huff played out of position at SS for 3 years and many were labeling him a bust but during the 2009 season he moved to FS and has played up to his abilities at that spot. 2010 was his best season of his 5-year career when he posted 94 tackles, 3 INT’s, 4 sacks, and 3 FF’s.
The Raiders have added backup QB Trent Edwards and re-signed T Khalif Barnes so far during the free agency period.
