JT Back to Dolphins and Bradshaw Back with Giants

Posted by Brad On August – 1 – 2011

Jason Taylor took a one year hiatus from South Beach and now he will be taking his talents back.  Taylor announced his “welcome back party” to the world on his Facebook Jason Taylor Foundation page.

Jason Taylor had a solid season in New York and proved he is still capable of making an impact just not on an everydown basis.  He will add solid depth to the Miami linebacking corps and could take some of the focus off Cameron Wake on third down.

In a story of the grass is not always greener, Ahmad Bradshaw gauged his value on the open market and apparantly didn’t like the results.

The New York Giants have agreed to a 4-year deal with Bradshaw.  This is a good deal for both sides as Bradshaw will see plenty of touches and New York won’t be faced with the possibility of starting Brandon Jacobs or Danny Ware.  The terms of the deal have not been disclosed.

Justin Tuck Dishes on Kiwi

MICHEAL PROFETTA

In a somewhat surprising development, Giants’ DE Justin Tuck has taken to Twitter to announce that free agent DE Mathias Kiwanuka will be returning to New York this season. While this is far from an “official” announcement, Tuck appears to have beaten the media to the punch when he wrote “Kiwi is returning to the Big Blue. Yes sir.”

Given his injury history, Kiwanuka is viewed by many as a risky free agency proposition. If Tuck’s tweet holds water, it could mean that Kiwanuka may be looking to increase his market value with a healthy, productive 2011 season, before re-entering the free agency fray in ’12. With Tuck, Kiwanuka and promising Jason Pierre-Paul at DE, the announcement has to be considered a harbinger of an impending trade involving malcontent Osi Umenyiora.

With high-level pass rushers Charles Johnson, Jason Babin and Kiwanuka off of the board, teams like Atlanta and Cleveland will suddenly find it that much more expensive to secure the only remaining high-profile DE, Ray Edwards.

Giants Revamping O-Line

MICHEAL PROFETTA

Today’s announcements that the G-Men are parting ways with veteran O-linemen Shaun O’Hara, Rich Seubert and Shawn Andrews are clear indications that they’ll be moving forward with the long-overdue overhaul of the aging, battered unit. Pro Bowler Chris Snee will be at his familiar RG post come opening day, but the rest of the line is a jumble in the wake of today’s action. It looks like it’s “prove it” time for youngsters Will Beatty, Mitch Petrus and 4th-round rookie James Brewer. Versatile LT/LG David Diehl gives the Giants some flexibility as they enter the free agency fray in search of reinforcements, but I’d be sweating bullets right now if I was veteran RT Kareem McKenzie. I have a hunch we’ll see New York attempt to strike a deathblow to the rival Cowboys with a strong push for free agent LT Doug Free in the coming days. Have those name tags ready, Eli.
