Updated 2012 NFL Draft Prospects

Posted by Brad On July – 21 – 2011

With all the time off from real football and growing increasingly tired of paying attention to courtroom football, I grew an extreme fondness for spending hours upon hours watching bad game tape (thanks CW).  That is good news and bad news for my readers.  Here’s the good; I broke down over 45 players in roughly three months and came to a solid preseason rankings which I have been unveiling periodically for about three weeks.  Here’s the bad; I overanalyzed each prospect to the point that readers were emailing asking me what the hell I was thinking ranking Janoris Jenkins, Janzen Jackson, Sean Spence, or whoever else that high.

Well, I am please to announced that my new top 100 2012 NFL Draft prospects list is ready to be unveiled.  As always you can refer to it here anytime but please be gentle because you know I’m sensitive.  Enjoy.

    Brad,

You’re buying into the Jayron Hosley hype too…I thought I knew you. You haven’t watched any tape on him obviously because you could see how bad he struggles on an island. Doesn’t have the speed to keep up and needs help over the top. Come on man.

I do like Hosley. The more tape I have seen the more I like him. Solid coverage skills and strong tackler. I don’t see a lot of safety help in any games I have watched. He plays on the “island” a lot and does it well. VT switches coverages frequently and he has a ton of experience in man and zone. I had an emailer say he was strictly Tampa 2 and I don’t know what you’re watching. I think the term Tampa 2 has been tossed around a lot and people think it’s for slow corners (as the emailer proposed). First he’s a legit 4.5 guy and Tampa 2 is cover 2 with the MLB dropping deep middle. Half the teams in the NFL play some form of Tampa 2. Turn on the Boise game and check him out. They get beat and Moore and Co. throw up big numbers but watch him blanket Titus. If you think he’s slow, watch him against Titus. He keeps up pretty well. Aside from a mental lapse he plays well against tough competition.
