"Carlos Hyde"

USA Today Sports

Carlos Hyde remains suspended from The Ohio State University football team but charges won’t be pursued by the alleged victim. A little after a week of the news breaking that Carlos Hyde was a suspect in an alleged assault at Sugar Bar 2 in Columbus – Columbus police have announced the case has been dropped.

Ohio State and Urban Meyer have yet to comment on Hyde’s reinstatement but its safe to assume we’ll hear something before the Buckeyes open fall camp on Sunday.

The 6-foot-1, 242 senior running back rushed for 970 yards and 17 touchdowns last season and figured to be a critical piece of the Buckeyes potentially dangerous running attack. Meyer faced media criticism in the wake of the Aaron Hernandez murder charges and took a strong stance during last week’s Big Ten media days on player discipline. While Hyde has avoided legal sanctions, it’s quite possible that Meyer won’t offer up a free pass on the football side of things.

Hyde was named to the Doak Walker watchlist this offseason and remains our top senior running back despite this setback. Hyde was expected to be Urban Meyer’s best candidate to date to break the 1,000 yard-mark in Meyer’s 10 seasons at the helm.

After the break, we have the video of Hyde’s July 20 incident.
