The Five-Star locks of Week 15

Profetta’s Picks

Washington (+6.5) @ N.Y. Giants

Both teams are operating with patchwork O-lines right now, so both QBs could feel some heat in this one. I trust Eli Manning to handle the pressure better than Rex Grossman, but my gut says that the Giants don’t cover.

Prediction: Giants 20, Redskins 13

Green Bay (-13.5) @ Kansas City

The absence of Greg Jennings only means that dynamic rookie Randall Cobb finally has an opportunity to get in on the fun.

Prediction: Packers 40, Chiefs 7

New Orleans (-7.5) @ Minnesota

The Saints could be looking ahead to the Week 16 Monday Night matchup against the Falcons, but with Drew Brees and his deep, talented group of targets facing the Vikings’ porous secondary, it shouldn’t matter.

Prediction: Saints 35, Vikings 24

Seattle (+3.5) @ Chicago

The Bears will bottle up Marshawn Lynch and force Tarvaris Jackson to beat them. Here’s where the injuries to the Seattle O-line catch up. Julius Peppers dominates as Chicago wins an eyesore of a game.

Prediction: Bears 13, Seahawks 9

Miami @ Buffalo (-1.5)

The Bills offer absolutely no pass rush and Ryan Fitzpatrick has been so ineffective that I wouldn’t be surprised if we begin to see a few mock drafts that forecast the Bills taking a QB pretty soon.

Prediction: Dolphins 19, Bills 10

Carolina (+6) @ Houston

Fresh off clinching their first playoff appearance in franchise history, I’m calling for a letdown in Houston this week. The Texans have been proving me wrong all season, so I suggest betting against me here.

Prediction: Panthers 20, Texans 13

Tennessee (-6.5) @ Indianapolis

The Colts have Andrew Luck in the bag, so now we can sincerely say that they have nothing to lose. With Matt Hasselbeck and Nate Washington questionable to start, Indy should be able to contain Chris Johnson (which hasn’t been too difficult this season, anyway), leaving it up to Jake Locker and a rag-tag group of wideouts to put points on the board. I like the Colts to cover.

Prediction: Titans 13, Colts 10

Cincinnati (-7) @ St. Louis

How on Earth did the Rams beat the Saints?

Prediction: Bengals 27, Rams 10

Detroit (-1) @ Oakland

The Lions finally face a team that may be more undisciplined than they are.

Prediction: Lions 24, Raiders 19

New England (-7.5) @ Denver

It’s science vs. religion as the Law of Averages catches up to Tebow and the Broncos, who will have a hard time stopping Brady with Andre Goodman and Brian Dawkins questionable to start.

Prediction: Patriots 27, Broncos 14

N.Y. Jets (+3) @ Philadelphia

Why, exactly, are the Eagles favored in this one? I’ll take the Jets and the three-spot without blinking.

Prediction: Jets 26, Eagles 20

Cleveland (+6.5) @ Arizona

I have this odd feeling that the Browns will tighten up around Seneca Wallace and keep this game close. If Wallace can actually pull one out in the desert, we may never see Colt McCoy start another game in Cleveland.

Prediction: Cardinals 20, Browns 17

Baltimore (+2.5) @ San Diego

The Chargers have looked like their old selves over the last two weeks against the Jaguars and Bills, but now they face a team that can actually rush the passer and force some turnovers. The Ravens take care of business.

Prediction: Ravens 27, Chargers 16

Pittsburgh (+3) @ San Francisco

Is it me, or does it seem like every time Big Ben is questionable to start, the Steelers find a way to win? Pittsburgh simply needs this one more than the ‘Niners do.

Prediction: Pittsburgh 20, 49ers 16

Brad’s Picks

Washington (+6.5) @ N.Y. Giants

Call it insanity but my gut tells me the Redskins pull off the upset today at New York.

Prediction: Redskins 23, Giants 21

Green Bay (-13.5) @ Kansas City

Not a good way to start Kyle Orton’s KC career but something tells me KC plays inspired enough to cover.

Prediction: Packers 31, Chiefs 20

New Orleans (-7.5) @ Minnesota

Drew Brees has a field day in this contest with the Minnesota secondary.

Prediction: Saints 38, Vikings 17

Seattle (+3.5) @ Chicago

I agree with Profetta…this one is going to be an ugly one to watch but I’m going with the Seahawks in this contest.

Prediction: Seahawks 17, Bears 13

Miami @ Buffalo (-1.5)

My heart is saying Buffalo but my head is saying Miami.

Prediction: Bills 24, Dolphins 20

Carolina (+6) @ Houston

Profetta and I are both nuts but were going with Cam and Co.

Prediction: Panthers 21, Texans 17

Tennessee (-6.5) @ Indianapolis

I think Chris Johnson runs up and down the Indy turf to make his fantasy owners happy. Tennessee stays in the WC hunt.

Prediction: Titans 28, Colts 10

Cincinnati (-7) @ St. Louis

The Rams are really bad and the Bengals are fighting for their Playoff hopes.

Prediction: Bengals 27, Rams 13

Detroit (-1) @ Oakland

The Detroit defense keeps them in this game and Megatron gets back on track.  Long day for Carson Palmer with Suh’s return.

Prediction: Lions 27, Raiders 13

New England (-7.5) @ Denver

New England scores a little too much as it looks like the Broncos will be without Brian Dawkins.  He’s the heart and soul of that defense and without him they struggle to keep Brady, Gronk, and Welker out of the endzone.

Prediction: Patriots 35, Broncos 24

N.Y. Jets (+3) @ Philadelphia

The line that dumbfounds but Vegas knows something on this one.  Philly plays inspired and comes out with a win.

Prediction: Eagles 24, Jets 20

Cleveland (+6.5) @ Arizona

Homer pick but I think the Browns rally behind Seneca Wallace for a W.  The Cards have played well with John Skelton under center but the Browns D keeps them in this one.

Prediction: Browns 17, Cardinals 13

Baltimore (+2.5) @ San Diego

The Ravens and Steelers are fighting for a week one bye and maybe homefield advantage throughout the Playoffs.  The Ravens take this one but barely.

Prediction: Ravens 24, Chargers 21

Pittsburgh (+3) @ San Francisco

After the Baltimore victory the Steelers need this one even more.  The D forces turnovers and the Steelers win in an ugly one.

Prediction: Pittsburgh 17, 49ers 13
