Top 150 2013 NFL Draft Prospects

Posted by Brad On January – 18 – 2013

"Chance Warmack"

The deadline for underclassmen declarations has passed and we will be releasing all of our rankings pre-Combine. Each day we will release our position by position rankings. Look for an update of all the rankings after all-star games and the Combine has wrapped up.

What has become remarkably clear is that the top of the draft is chock full of offensive and defensive line talent. Teams in need of pass rushers should have no problem finding one in rounds one or two. Likewise, the depth of the offensive line is very solid despite Taylor Lewan and Jake Matthews staying in school.

The first quarterback on our board is Geno Smith at No. 21 but the depth in the second round is very solid if teams decide not to reach at the position. The running back position is extremely deep through the fourth round along with the safety position.

This is a page to bookmark as it will come in handy when filling out your mock drafts and talking NFL prospects with friends. Here’s a look at our 2013 NFL Draft top 150 prospects.

Finally got around to watching some Larry Black Jr. tape. The guy’s is incredible. Reactions, pass rush moves, plays non stop even if at first he doesn’t reach the ball carrier. I think you mentioned his size as a downside for the next level, but he’s not hugely undersized. He’s around the same weight as Bennie Logan and Everett Dawkins.

Glad to see some Hopkins love, right in the mid-1st range. He tops my WR list, as I’m a little more sceptical on Patterson’s character and occasional lack of effort, combined with lack of polish/game time. As you’ve said though, highest ceiling of any WR, but I have him 2nd behind Hopkins.

Warmack that high will no doubt draw some comments I suspect on being evidence of an overall weak class at the top end. Truth is though that the guy warrants it.

Cierre Wood is higher than I expected, personally he’s way down my list as a late rounder. Despite a good OL in front of him he couldn’t get much going on his already reduced carries from suspension and loss of carries to Riddick. Is this primarily based on 2011 footage? I did like him coming into the season.

Just a few names that caught my eye, I expect I’ll be all over the position ranking posts that are coming, as I’ve just been updating mine post season! =)

    • Bex_R1986

Hmmm, just looked and saw Wood racked up quite a bit more yardage than I thought. 750 yards at over 6 per carry. Don’t know how I missed that, he didn’t look great in the games I saw!

I think Wood is one of those guys that winds up a better NFL player than college player. Just never carried the load for ND. Theo Riddick was the primary this season. At the RB position, limited tread wear is big at the next level. There’s only so many carries you can put on someone…guys like Montee Ball scare me with the wear on them at the collegiate level. When you consider that ranking would put him in the mid 4th round range, I think that’s a good spot for him.

I’m glad you got to see Black in action. Very underrated guy that could surprise some if he drops into the late rounds of the draft. His ability to disrupt the backfield is special in my book. Could be 2012′s John Hughes. A guy no one heard about (unless they are NFL’s Future readers, of course) that someone takes in the 3rd round and fan bases cringe. Then you see him on the field and wonder how so many missed on him. Hughes was very solid in year one in a nice CLE rotation.

Warmack is flat out special. His smarts and skills are so much better than anyone I have ever scouted that its almost not real. I like DeCastro last year and he was a guy that I thought would be a top 15 guard. I can’t see this guy falling out of the top 10. I think his floor is Tennessee at 10. He instantly makes your OLine better, not many guards you can say that about.

        • Bex_R1986

Yeah, I regretted that comment on Woods a little, once taking into consideration the 4th round range and his better than realised production. Never mind!

Good point on Hughes. There’s something about prospects from Cincinnati recently I’ve noticed. They produce players that are just as ready as they can be to step in straight away in the NFL. Hughes and Wolfe last year, and you can bet that the likes of TE Kelce and RB Winn will contribute in their first year. As will a guy I really rate highly in safety Drew Frey. He’s a sleeper in my mind.

I’ve just noticed that Larry Black holds a similar rank on my DT list to Chris Jones out of Bowlning Green. Similar size and had great production this year. Likewise is very quick off the snap and has some pass rush moves. Thoughts on him?

          • bradc11

Chris Jones is solid. I actually have him right outside the top 150. Black and Jones are similar in a lot of ways. Small, quick 3T that can be disruptors at the next level.

Zach Dysert ahead of Matt Barkley and Ryan Nassib is insane. Please explain? He’s a third or fourth round pick not Big Ben.

    • bradc11

Definitely not Ben but not that far apart. I will be doing a film study on Dysert early next week. Check it out to see what I think of him in its fullest.

      • Reggie

I do not believe this QB class has any definite order at this time. I am happy to be a fan of a team who does not need a QB at this time.

        • Braeden

As am I reggie, as Am I. then again, Im glad to be rooting for a team who draft pick hasn’t been decided and is currently starting arguably the Best QB ever.

          • Mprofetta

            Reggie and Braeden,

            Thanks for rubbing it in.

            Sincerely,

A guy whose favorite team will probably be trotting out Mark Sanchez and Tarvaris Jackson at QB in 2013.

          • Braeden

sorry man, and brady didnt look to hot tonite but man thats gotta suck.

You, guys are seriously overrating Eddie Lacy.

    • bradc11

Why do think he’s overrated at 27? Big, elusive back with very little wear on his tires sounds pretty good to me. He’s going to come off the board at the end of round one/beginning of round two.

      • neighborhooddrunkpart2

        Why IMO
1.Isn’t much of a bruiser, despite being 225 pounds.
        2.Poor blocking technique.
        3.lack of game-breaking ability
4.He’s very stiff and upright as a 5’10 RB.
5.Alabama’s great O-line made him better than he actually is.
        .

eh, Le’veon Bell look more elusive than Lacy IMHO. True, he does have very little wear on his tires. I doubt it, but its possible.

  • Reggie

Geno Smith has problems but how can the #1 pick be the 21st best prospect? Crazy man…you have a good eye for talent but if thats the case no way can the Chiefs pin their hopes on him…though he would do well with Andy Reid
