The big boys dominated round one, now it might be time we see a run on skill positions. There’s plenty of talent still remaining as two of our top ten players remain on the board.

Teams in need of corners are in business as there remains a plethora of options that could be had deep into the third round of the draft. It was our assumption that the corner class was one of, if not the most, deep position groups in the draft and it looks like that was a solid assumption.

Rest assured that the quarterbacks (and Manti Te’o) will carry the day on your choice of networks. The opening frame will be all about Geno Smith, Ryan Nassib, and Matt Barkley. Once they are off the board, and it should come fairly early, we can get to the drafting of some very good players.

The steals of the remaining talent are Arthur Brown, Jamar Taylor, and Markus Wheaton. Look for Brown and Taylor to come off the board early on day two with Wheaton remaining an option late in round two and possibly into round three.

We are less than 24 hours away from the kickoff to the 2013 NFL Draft and this serves as our official wrap on the 2013 draft season. With over fifty mock drafts gracing the pages of NFL’s Future they boil down to this final edition that will be our submission to the vaunted Huddle Report competition. Keep in mind there’s some strategy involved in this mock draft as you earn three points for right pick to right team and one point for player taken in round one.

It’s draft week and we are jumping all over the mock drafts and content this week. This is not our final mock draft as we will be releasing our Huddle Report mock draft on Wednesday at 11:59 p.m. This will be our final multi-round mock as we give you three-rounds of fun to put a cap on this draft season.

Here’s our predicted trades, as we’ll keep this one a little conservative on the trade front.

Miami trades pick No. 42 to the Chiefs for Branden Albert

Oakland trades pick No. 3 to San Diego for No. 11 and No. 45

Green Bay trades pick No. 26 to Philadelphia for No. 35 and No. 101

In the next day or two we should know the direction the Chiefs are going with this pick. As of now, it’s down to four or three, depending on which report you believe. But this pick has been about Luke Joeckel since the Chiefs traded for Alex Smith.

I have to admit, I stole this idea from Jeff Risdon of DetroitLionsDraft.com. Many of you know Jeff from his NFL’s Future days but he’s now banging it out for DLD.com and doing a great job at it.

This mock is assuming that I was pulling the trigger for all 32 teams and gives readers some insight to how I value players and positions in correspondence with team needs. I won’t be including any trades as it creates a whole slew of issues that we don’t want to tackle, so we’ll stick with the current draft order.

Next week, will be our final mock draft. We will have one up on Monday morning and then again on Wednesday night at 11:59 p.m. Our Wednesday night mock will be our Huddle Report submission. The content will be sparse next week as we begin preparations for our top 100 and mock draft for our Huddle Report submission. That said, if news hits, we’ll have you covered. 1. Kansas City Chiefs – Luke Joeckel, OT, Texas A&M

Regardless of the Branden Albert situation, I’m not passing on the best player in the draft if I’m not certain that Albert is going to be with me long-term. I think Luke Joeckel is hands down the best player in the draft and I’ve had a solid offseason so I don’t hesitate running this card to the podium.

It’s always a bittersweet time of the year when the 2013 NFL Draft begins to come to a close and we take stock on the 2014 draft. A ton of work goes into what amounts to our top 300 prospects in the draft. After all the mock draft and pointless banter it all really comes down to this. As an evaluator, all you want is for these rankings to take shape over the course of time. For every right ranking (Russell Wilson) there are many more that don’t work out as anticipated (Blaine Gabbert).

This year has been an exercise in patience as the evaluation process only began taking shape in January, a month later than previous years. But the outcome was a better product with more intensive analysis than any previous season. As we go, we perfect the process, and its a process.

Every draft season we try to predict the unpredictable. It’s been a wild hit in the past and brought about as much controversy as an single item on the site. Remember trades are unpredictable and near impossible to take a stab at, hence why we only take on this task once a year. I try to limit this to one round of trades, so you won’t see a bunch of moves in the 2nd and 3rd rounds. Here’s a breakdown of all the trades:

1. Kansas City Chiefs – Luke Joeckel, OT, Texas A&M

In our mock draft, we opted to deal Branden Albert to the Dolphins for the 42nd overall pick. This appears to be a deal that will work for both sides as KC can take Luke Joeckel at No. 1 and Miami gets their LT allowing them to move Jon Martin to his more natural right side. Rumors began swirling this week of Dion Jordan as a possibility at No. 1 but I don’t see them packing it on Tamba Hali at his point.

1. Kansas City Chiefs – Luke Joeckel, OT, Texas A&M

Branden Albert hasn’t reported to workouts and isn’t expected to. Sure sign that he will be dealt in the very near future. I fully expect by the time the draft takes place for Albert to be dealt. If and when he is dealt the Chiefs are left with a void on the left side of their line which will be an important piece to fill with Alex Smith taking the helm for Andy Reid.

Joeckel is the real deal. I’m in the camp of Joeckel as a better pro prospect than Matt Kalil. Given Kalil’s success in year one with the Vikings, this is a bold statement but I see very little not to like with Joeckel.

1. Kansas City Chiefs – Luke Joeckel, OT, Texas A&M

The Chiefs have done a masterful job of filling holes through free agency. The Chiefs are reportedly shopping the recently franchised player, Branden Albert. If Albert is dealt before or on draft day, I fully expect this pick to come down to one of the tackles. Not ironically news of the Chiefs interest in Geno Smith broke yesterday as talks of Jacksonville’s interest heated up. The Chiefs aren’t taking Smith but will explore any trade possibility that could come their way.

Luke Joeckel is a day one starter that is capable of manning Albert’s LT spot. We have thought for a long while that Joeckel was the top overall player in the 2013 NFL Draft and this pick makes too much sense to pass on.

1. Kansas City Chiefs – Luke Joeckel, OT, Texas A&M

The Chiefs have done a masterful job of filling holes through free agency. The free agent pickups have allowed them the flexibility to trade Branden Albert to recoup the 2nd round pick they lost in the Alex Smith trade. At this point, it appears a matter of time before Albert is dealt and we can lock a tackle into the No. 1 overall spot.

It’s just a matter of time before we can etch this pick in stone. After spending the better part of the last three months speculating on the No. 1 overall pick, it’s beginning to look like a bit of a forgone conclusion as KC seeks out a trade partner for Albert. Joeckel is a franchise LT that should be a no-brainer in this spot. Eric Fisher will likely get a long look at this spot but Joeckel wins the day.
