NFL Week Twelve Picks Against the Spread
Last week was very average at 8-6 taking the season total to 82-61. This Thanksgiving week we get hot as my thoughts of turkey and gravy consume enough brain power to not over think these picks.
Houston (-3.5) at Detroit
Detroit on Turkey Day is calling my name. I think we see Matt Stafford break out a little bit following Houston’s abysmal defensive performance against Jacksonville.
GAME PREDICTION: Detroit 27, Houston 24
Washington at Dallas (-3.5)
You have to like Washington after watching the Dallas offensive line protect Tony Romo against that vaunted Cleveland defense. Seriously, Tyron Smith is out and he was the last of the decent options on that line.
GAME PREDICTION: Washington 24, Dallas 17
New England (-6.5) at New York Jets
New England is without Gronk but Hernandez is back. It doesn’t really matter, the Jets are a mess.
GAME PREDICTION: New England 31, New York 13
Minnesota at Chicago (-0.5)
Chicago can’t protect whoever the QB is and Minnesota is looking to stay alive in the tough NFC North. It’s a logjam at the top and Minnesota plays motivated as Chicago’s November swoon continues.
GAME PREDICTION: Minnesota 17, Chicago 13
Denver (-10.5) at Kansas City
Denver is rolling and well, KC is not. I’m going with the Chiefs to cover the 10.5.
GAME PREDICTION: Denver 20, Kansas City 10
Pittsburgh at Cleveland (-0.5)
Who would have thought the 2-8 Browns would be favored over the Pittsburgh Steelers? Not me and I’m a Browns fan. Charlie Batch is starting and it’s not 2000. That spells doom for the Steelers as the Browns get a win over a divisional rival.
GAME PREDICTION: Cleveland 24, Pittsburgh 17
Seattle (-3.5) at Miami
Ryan Tannehill has struggled a bit as of late and doesn’t get any reprieve with Seattle’s defense coming to town. We’ll see if Miami’s defense can stop Russell Wilson and the Seahawks as come off a week off. I’m going with my boy, Russell Wilson in a big performance.
GAME PREDICTION: Seattle 31, Miami 17
Buffalo at Indianapolis (-3.5)
Indy is still stinging from a beatdown at the hands of the mighty Patriots. Will they be out for redemption this week at home? I think so, I’m riding Andrew Luck and the Colts to handle the Bills.
GAME PREDICTION: Indianapolis 24, Buffalo 16
Atlanta (-1.5) at Tampa Bay
The good news for the Falcons is that Matt Ryan can’t play as bad as he did last week. Tampa Bay isn’t the Cardinals, so there’s no room for mistakes this week. I think Atlanta comes back strong from their miserable performance (albeit a win).
GAME PREDICTION: Atlanta 23, Tampa Bay 20
Oakland at Cincinnati (-7.5)
Carson Palmer returns to Paul Brown Stadium for the first time. There should be some extra motivation in this contest for Palmer. It won’t matter if the Oakland defense continues to be bludgeoned to death by opponents. I don’t think Oakland can keep up with the Bengals, who have been rolling the last two weeks.
GAME PREDICTION: Cincinnati 27, Oakland 13
Tennessee (-3.5) at Jacksonville
I said Jacksonville had four wins in them this season. This is one of them as they outlast the Titans at home.
GAME PREDICTION: Jacksonville 17, Tennessee 16
Baltimore (-1.5) at San Diego
It’s a tough trip out to the west coast and I think Baltimore takes one on the chin at the hands of Norv’s bunch.
GAME PREDICTION: San Diego 20, Baltimore 17
San Francisco (-2.5) at New Orleans
I reserve the right to change this pick if Jim Harbaugh rotates Alex Smith and Colin Kaepernick. If either starts and plays the entire game I like San Francisco. Ok, it’s not fair, I’ll go with the ‘Niners to beat the smoking hot Saints.
GAME PREDICTION: San Francisco 27, New Orleans 20
St. Louis at Arizona (-2.5)
Who’s starting at QB for the Cardinals? I’ll take the Rams.
GAME PREDICTION: St. Louis 17, Arizona 9
Green Bay at New York Giants (-2.5)
I worry about the Giants pass defense holding up against Aaron Rodgers. That said, I think Eli gets back on track and we see a much better Giants team emerge from their bye week. I’m going with the Giants by 3 at home.
GAME PREDICTION: New York 27, Green Bay 24
Carolina at Philadelphia (-2.5)
This is a Monday Night clunker. Is there anyway to swap out this game with Jacksonville/Tennessee? The Eagles are a nightmare right now and Cam is eager to please on Monday Night Football. I’m going with the Panthers.
GAME PREDICTION: Carolina 26, Philadelphia 17
