How do the Lions have back to back years filled with important free agents? Man we are not loaded with cash either so this will be difficult. I believe you are missing Gosder Cherlius in the list. He has really come on the last few seasons and I would love him back. Avril is having a mediocre season so his value has went down…whether his price comes down with it is unknown. He should have took the 3 year 30 million the Lions offered but I am glad he didnt. Levy and Durant have been very talented and with money 4-3 OLB usually get I think we can retain one if not both. Houston should be #2 behind Cherlius in importance. Maybe even #1. He is clearly our best CB and is a legit #1. Delmas should be franchised since a long term deal is not smart. He is a top 5 player on our team but just cannot stay healthy.

It’s going to be rough having to re-sign over half your starting defense. I did miss Gosder, thanks for the catch. I would look at getting Houston a deal just because the secondary struggles. Have to think the OLB’s have a shot a getting out of DET just because they are most replaceable as a position group. I would look at re-signing one of the two and letting the other walk. Delmas is a must sign if I’m DET’s front office. Health concerns aside, he’s one of the better young safeties in the league. Tough to come by, I take a shot on his health.

Cherlius, Delmas, Levy and Houston should be resigned. I pick Levy over Durant because he is younger and can play MLB if needed. Houston and Delmas cannot be lossed or an already bad secondary goes into a very bad place. Cherlius is needed because continuity is a must on a OL that will be replacing Raiola, Backus, and Peterson soon already. Avril should be let go since his asking price and his production are miles apart and not in a good way. I wouldnt pay him more than 6-7 million a season and even then I would not be happy about it.
