please put massie to browns. adams and martin have no strength. pass can bulldoze!

Massie did get a ton of consideration to the Browns and honestly to the Giants at the end of round one.

Having watched and then re-watched all of Chandler Jones tape I just do not see him as a 3-4 OLB. In fact I think putting 20lbs on him and having him play 3-4 DE would be better in the Packers defense. He is what you would call a “linear athlete” he doesn’t have that quick twitch ability. Injuries have really hindered him from putting together a consistent season. I know there is a lot of hype around him right now but he has 4-3 DE written all over him. His bloddlines are awesome (Jon Jones is the baddest dude on the planet) but his game to me doesn’t translate into a 3-4 OLB. Its funny because you’ve stated that Mercilus, Curry are better 4-3 ends but to me either one of those guys is better suited to switch to OLB than Jones.
I would prefer your boy Andre Branch over him, you also have Ronnell Lewis falling out of the 2nd, if we don’t address the OLB in the 1st and Lewis is there in the 2nd I think the Packers juimp all over him.

I 100% agree with you on Chandler Jones. I have a late 2nd rd grade and think he is a better fit at base end. I like Branch better than Jones as a 34 OLB and overall prospect. Still think Mercilus and Curry are better fits as 43 DE’s. Nick Perry as well. I’m beginning to dial in on players and positioning and my mocks are always projections of what teams may do. Chandler Jones is moving up at a rapid pace which usually means he has teams talking because everyone is talking about him as a mid-to-late first…that I can’t ignore. I, personally, don’t value him there but it’s not me doing the drafting…unfortunately.

So by mocking Jones to the Packers in the 1st round are you suggesting that he bulked up to play DE in our 3-4?

        • Brad

For now, he’ll have to play OLB as he doesn’t currently have the bulk to play 5T. Over time, he could add bulk and play with his hand in the dirt. Remember, I’m projecting him and not saying that is where I would take him. I have him 46th on my final board and that’s where I would be comfortable with him…as a 43 base end. More talk of him making his way into mid-first round range which is crazy to me.

I think MErcilus, Trumaine Johnson, and Blake are solid acquisitions. That said they come with problems. Mercilus is a 1 year starter, Johnson a small school prospect, and Blake is 26 years old. I dont mind this draft but together they make me worry.

No way the Packers even have Jones on their board. He is too slow to play OLB and way too small for a 3-4 DE. Horrible pick for a 3-4 team.

I see josh norman all over the place in mocks. Any thoughts, brad? I wonder if Illoka doesnt fall even further. And man, its hard to imagine ronnell lewis falling to the 3rd. But nice that burris is on here now. Guyton too. jarius wright…..some good value bottom of round three.

add thought on DEs vs OLB> The one guy in that group that i think CAN move to OLB is nick perry. He’s actually maybe the heaviest these days, but i saw him at USC and he’s an agile guy, and more important, has a nose for the football. Branch is a mystery to me. Crazy huge upside…but were has the production been? There is some, but he does worry me a bit.
