2012 NFL Draft Order: Week 16 Edition

“Suck for Luck is not over as the final week of season will determine the rights to the No. 1 pick in the 2012 NFL Draft.  With Indianapolis and St. Louis fighting it out in the final week, things are getting interesting atop the draft.

Aside from the drama atop the draft we have teams fighting for position as the trade market in this draft figures to be unlike any other.  Here’s a look at a whole bunch of speculation:

1.  Indianapolis Colts (2-13)

Strength of Schedule:  .550

Remaining Games:  @Jacksonville

Forecast:  St. Louis is hot on the heals of Indy.  It is fully conceivable that Indy could win in Jacksonville this weekend and take themselves out of the No. 1 spot.  With their effort on Thursday night, it doesn’t look like anyone in Indy is resigned to the fact that Andrew Luck will be in Colts uniform in 2012.  For now, I’m taking the Jaguars…reluctantly.

Projected Win Total:  2

2.  St. Louis Rams (2-13)

Strength of Schedule:  .588

Remaining Games:  @ San Francisco

Forecast:  The Rams are one Indy win away from being in a spot to rectify the 2011 season.  Assuming they will keep Bradford and trade the Andrew Luck selection, they will secure a ton of picks in 2012 and 2013.  No chance of beating SF at home, so they end the season with 2 wins and hope for an Indy loss.

Projected Win Total:  2

3.  Minnesota Vikings (3-12)

Strength of Schedule:  .558

Remaining Games:  vs. Chicago

Forecast:  Minnesota won the game but lost their franchise RB.  They may exchange the two.  AP went down with an ACL and MCL which could spill into the 2012 season.  I don’t see them winning against Chicago so it could be an offseason of misery for Vikings fans.

Projected Win Total:  3

4.  Jacksonville Jaguars (4-11)

Strength of Schedule:  .500

Remaining Games:  vs. Indianapolis

Forecast:  Jacksonville is playing some bad football but the good (or bad) news is they get Indy to close the season.  This game will determine the fate of the Andrew Luck selection and may be the only reason to watch this game between to miserable teams.

Projected Win Total:  5

5.  Cleveland Browns (4-11)

Strength of Schedule:  .529

Remaining Games:  vs. Pittsburgh

Forecast:  The Browns close the season against Pittsburgh with little to no chance of getting a W.  Their before half blunder against Baltimore inspires no inspiration that this team can find a way to win a game.  They will finish the season with four wins.

Projected Win Total:  4

6.  Tampa Bay Buccaneers (4-11)

Strength of Schedule:  .550

Remaining Games:  @ Atlanta

Forecast:  The Bucs are as bad as any team in football right now.  They were trounced by Carolina and I don’t expect anything different in Atlanta.  Atlanta has a playoff spot wrapped up but they should be able to handle the Bucs with their B team in.

Projected Win Total:  4

7.  Washington Redskins (5-10)

Strength of Schedule:  .475

Remaining Games:  @ Philadelphia

Forecast:  Washington gets the unenviable task of playing a very hot Philly team to end the season.  They should be going out on a bad note as Philly is rolling.  Their fifth win may have cost them a chance at RGIII.  They will have to be one of the teams looking to trade up to secure the services of Luck or RGIII as they need a QB bad.

Projected Win Total:  5

8.  Miami Dolphins (5-10)

Strength of Schedule:  .513

Remaining Games:  vs. New York Jets

Forecast:  The Dolphins almost pulled a miraculous victory over NE but couldn’t find ways to stop them in the 2nd half.  This weekend’s matchup with the Jets should be a good one as the Dolphins would love to spoil their Playoff hopes.

Projected Win Total:  5

9.  Carolina Panthers (6-9)

Strength of Schedule:  .492

Remaining Games:  @ New Orleans

Forecast:  Carolina is winning games late in the season which is a great sign for this franchise going forward.  Their defense needs to find a few players in order to compete in NFC South.

Projected Win Total:  6

10.  Buffalo Bills (6-9)

Strength of Schedule:  .517

Remaining Games:  @ New England

Forecast:  Can’t say I saw that win coming.  The Bills defense shut down Tim Tebow and Co. to end their losing streak.  Coming off the win, they get the Pats who will be looking to secure a first-round bye.

Projected Win Total:  6

11.  Kansas City Chiefs (6-9)

Strength of Schedule:  .517

Remaining Games:  @ Denver

Forecast:  The matchup of the week features Kyle Orton vs. Tim Tebow for all the marbles.  Ok, not all the marbles but Kyle Orton would love to send the Broncos out of the Playoffs and Tim Tebow needs a strong finish after an abysmal performance against Buffalo.

Projected Win Total:  6

12.  Arizona Cardinals (7-8)

Strength of Schedule:  .475

Remaining Games:  vs. Seattle

Forecast:  The Cards finished the season strong and will have some tough decisions to make in the offseason.  They are likely to take a QB battle into training camp.

Projected Win Total:  7

13.  Philadelphia Eagles (7-8)

Strength of Schedule:  .486

Remaining Games:  vs. Washington

Forecast:  Too little, too late but at least the Eagles are going out strong in a disappointing 2011 season.  They should handle the ‘Skins this week to make it to eight wins.

Projected Win Total:  8

14.  Seattle Seahawks (7-8)

Strength of Schedule:  .504

Remaining Games:  @ Arizona

Forecast:  I think the Seahawks take this one and get to 8 wins on the season.  Their defense is young and on the rise.  They need to find a QB that can get them over the hump.

Projected Win Total:  8

15.  San Diego Chargers (7-8)

Strength of Schedule:  .517

Remaining Games:  @ Oakland

Forecast:  Oakland needs a win to stay alive and are playing at home.  The Chargers would love nothing more than to send a division rival packing after an up and down season.

Projected Win Total:  7

16.  Chicago Bears (7-8)

Strength of Schedule:  .533

Remaining Games:  @ Minnesota

Forecast:  The Vikings are beat up and the Bears could use a win to finish the season.  They are done in the Playoff hunt but need something to boost their confidence.

Projected Win Total:  8
